To recognize the institute's most promising research scientists who, while early in their careers, show exceptional potential for leadership at the frontiers of scientific knowledge. (Biennial Award)


W.F. Thompson
For best student paper on freshwater or marine biological resource problems published in a peer reviewed journal each year.

Clark  Hubbs Associate Research
Annual fellowship awards to AIFRB associate members for travel to scientific meetings and professional development.

Distinguished Service
To recognize an AIFRB member who has performed outstanding and sustained service to the institute.
